The fine society is already waiting eagerly and finally, the time has come: Her Majesty QueenMedjoolof Date Land strides into the hall. At her side: the Princess, LadyDeglet Nour. But ... who is this? Who are the others accompanying the royal team? A murmur goes through the room: "That'sAjwaandHalawi!", "Is that possible ...Sukari, here?" and "I think that must beAseelandDeri" can be heard whispered by those present. And with that, the mystery is solved: it is the entire date family that accompanies the Queen at the KoRo Ball that day.

"From outside, from the desert I come - you will notice, I will melt in your mouth"

Well, did you get a bit carried away with the short fairytale lesson? Then let's bring you back down to earth - to the facts! Dates (which is what we are actually talking about here) are the fruit of the date palm, a desert plant that grows in North Africa and the Near and Middle East. The palm plant only bears fruit about every two years, but then it can yield up to 100 kilograms of deliciously sweet dates. With a useful life of 80 to 100 years, a date palm can give us around 40 tonnes of dates in its lifetime. The thought of such a heap of dates is sure to make the hearts of all dried fruit lovers beat faster - but also those who want to replace commercial industrial sugar with natural sweetness. This works wonderfully with dates, as they naturally contain a lot of sugar. Accordingly, they also have a high energy content, which earned them the charming name "bread of the desert". Makes your mouth water, doesn't it? Buy our dates now!

Every date’s the same isn’t it?

Not quite: we at KoRo alone have seven different types of dates. And if you think that's a lot, you'd better hold on to something: There are hundreds (!) of different date varieties worldwide, each differing in colour, shape, consistency and taste. You have already met the royal date family: the honey-sweetDeglet Nour datesand the sugary-sweet, caramelMedjool dates. OurHalawi dateis also in the caramel club, which is why we have ceremoniously given it the title "caramel sweet". Less sweet, but no less delicious than the other date varieties are our firm-to-the-biteAjwadates. For a pleasant fruity sweetness, try theSukariorAseel dates. And ourDeri datesare the absolute top hit: the perfect match of fruity and chocolaty notes! Our dates covered in dark chocolate are even higher up the chocolate ladder. If you like the sweet combination of chocolate and fruit as much as we do and would like to top it all off with a portion of nuts, our date chocolate bites - with hazelnut or peanut - are just the thing for you. You can find more information about our different date varieties in our date world. As different as our date varieties may be, they have a few things in common: you can buy untreated, i.e. unsulphured dates from us, which contain neither added sugar nor preservatives and give your food a natural sweetness. With the exception of our pitted Deglet Nour dates and the Deglet Nour dates with stone in the 5 kg pack, all our dates are also sources of fibre. Some of our Medjool varieties and the chopped dates are also organic. All of our dates are vegan, because we think that as a vegan you have already wasted enough years of your life looking at ingredient lists.

Recipes with dates

Dates wrapped in bacon are incredibly delicious, but we think the desert fruit has a lot more to offer! Because of their naturally sweet taste, dates are a real all-rounder in the (vegan) kitchen. For example, the next time you want to make your own oat drink in our plant drink maker, you can simply refine it with a date for a little extra sweetness. Dates are also great forcakesand otherdesserts. And if you prefer to start the day with a sweet breakfast, ourdate-almond oatmealis certainly just the thing for you! We wouldn't be KoRo if we didn't also give you various snack suggestions for our dates. For example, try ourjuicy date bread with almonds, create your ownenergy balls- or simply snack on the little favourites on their own! Dates are also great in various dips, such as ourdate cream cheese spread. If you don't have the time to make your own, you can simply order our world famousorganic date and hazelnut cream. So you see: There is (almost) nothing you can't do with our dates! Instead of dates, you can also use ourorganic date sugar, date pasteororganic date syrup, which are all made from 100%Deglet Nour dates.

How do different types of dates differ?

There are several hundred varieties of dates that differ in colour, shape, consistency and taste. The queen of dates, the Medjool date, for example, tastes sugary sweet and caramel-like. In our date world you can learn more about the different varieties and become an unbeatable date luminary!

Are dates healthy?

At KoRo, we principally refrain from dividing food into healthy and unhealthy. After all, healthy is first and foremost a balanced and varied diet and a corresponding lifestyle. However, our dates are untreated: They have no added sugar or preservatives and are also unsulphurised. Except for our pittedDeglet Nour datesand theDeglet Nour dates with stone in the 5 kg pack, all our dates are also sources of fibre.

Can my dog eat dates?

We are not the only ones who enjoy the sweet taste of dates - dogs love them too. Just like for us, the same applies for your four-legged friend: enjoy in moderation! Because dates can also have a laxative effect on dogs and also contain a lot of sugar. Of course, you can still mix a few dates into your dog food or homemade treats from time to time. But be sure to remove the stone first. And if you are unsure, it is better to seek veterinary advice beforehand. By the way: You can always give your faithful companion a lot of pleasure with ourdog food.
